What is Hustro AI Labs?

Hustro AI Labs is our research and innovation programme exploring how artificial intelligence can transform everyday work on construction sites and in industrial facilities. We build AI prototypes, test them with real construction teams and share what works. AI Labs is separate from the core Hustro platform — it is where we explore what comes next.

What AI prototypes are available in Hustro AI Labs?

Currently three prototypes are available: Automatic Quantity Takeoff (AI reads construction drawings and calculates material quantities), Automatic Issue Descriptions (AI analyses site photos and generates defect descriptions) and Document Comparison (AI detects changes between drawing revisions and document versions). Each prototype solves a specific, high-value problem for construction teams.

Is Hustro AI Labs available to all Hustro clients?

AI Labs prototypes are currently available to select clients and partners who participate in our testing programme. If you are interested in accessing a specific prototype, get in touch via the form on this page — we will assess fit and set up a discovery call to find the right starting point for your team.

How does the AI quantity takeoff work?

You upload a construction drawing in PDF, CAD or BIM format. The AI analyses the drawing, recognises structural and finishing elements and calculates material quantities automatically. The result is a structured quantity takeoff ready for cost estimation — in minutes rather than hours. The prototype is configured for your specific drawing types and project format.

How does the automatic issue description prototype work?

A site team member takes a photo of a defect on their mobile phone. The AI analyses the image, recognises the type of defect, classifies it and generates a structured description — including suggested category, responsible trade and severity. The description is pre-filled in the Hustro defect form, ready to submit in seconds. No typing required.

Will AI Labs features be integrated into the main Hustro platform?

Some features will be integrated — others will remain as standalone tools or be developed further based on client feedback. AI Labs is our way of validating which AI capabilities deliver real value before making them part of the core product. Clients who participate in testing get early access and direct influence over what gets built next.

How is Hustro AI different from other AI tools for construction?

Most AI tools for construction are generic — they are not built around construction workflows, construction data types or the reality of working on site without reliable connectivity. Hustro AI prototypes are built on top of our construction management platform, trained on real construction data and tested with real site teams. They are designed to work within the processes construction companies already use — not to replace them.
